We study the cooperative behaviour of animate and inanimate matter. This includes many classes of quantum systems, ranging from clusters of atoms via magnetic and superconducting materials all the way to quantum computers. A considerable number of alumnae and alumni of our institute hold academic (and non-academic) positions in many parts of the world.
