To mark the centenary of the development of modern quantum mechanics in Göttingen, the RWTH Physics department will host a public symposium on Friday, July 4, 2025. We warmly invite all interested individuals to attend. No registration is required. Please note: the event will be held in German.

The symposium will begin at 5:00 pm in Lecture Hall H04 of the C.A.R.L. Lecture Hall Complex, located on Claßenstraße.

Professor Arne Schirrmacher, a historian of science at Humboldt University in Berlin, will open the event with a historical reflection on the pivotal developments of 1925. He will trace how narratives around quantum mechanics have evolved over time and what current historical research reveals about this transformative moment in the history of science.

At 6:30 pm, Professor Simon Friederich from the University of Groningen will explore the philosophical dimensions of physics, focusing in particular on the search for realistic interpretations of quantum mechanics.
